Make Base
This is a routine for advanced users of InterDyme models. When constructing a forecast, one often replaces the predictions of certain model equations with "hard fixes," such as index fixes, growth rate fixes, override fixes, or others. Later, the forecaster might wish to use the same model for simulation exercises. Unfortunately, the hard fixes leave certain terms exogenous that should be endogenous. The following routines may be used to replace an assortment of "hard fixes" with "soft fixes" while maintaining the same forecast levels. Note that a special Run.bat file has been constructed to accompany this routine.
To use, select a macro variable or vector for which the model has an equation, but where that equation was controlled with a hard fix. Delete or comment the fixes. Next, go to the end of this file and construct one(!) command similar to the examples given. Make sure that Run.bat is specified properly. Finally, run this routine. At the end, you should find one or more CTA fixes in the new?cta.fix file. Move them to your original macro fix or vector fix file. Subsequent runs of the model should replicate the original forecast, but the previously exogenous variables now should be endogenous.
Note again that it is important to process ONE macro variable or vector at a time. This is because all other fixes must remain in place until a suitable alternative is found for the term currently considered. Again, remove ONE fix at a time from the original set, and use this routine to find a replacement.
